Why You Should Participate in DeisHacks 2025

DeisHacks thrives on the diversity of its participants, drawing from various majors, interests, and experiences. If you excel in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, DeisHacks offers you an incredible opportunity.

No coding required!

Speaking with my classmate Kathryn Messenger ’23, MBA’25, who won Best Technical Hack last year, she was part of a diverse team. She did not code as part of the project, instead she worked on the marketing material whilst one of her teammates used her art skills to make mock-up products of logos.

Practical Experience in Problem-Solving

The hackathon offers a practical opportunity to apply business theories and concepts to address real-world challenges faced by these organizations. This invaluable hands-on experience enhances your ability to analyze complex problems, devise strategic solutions, and effectively implement projects–exactly the kind of skills you need to stand out in the business world.

Enhance Your Resume with Unique Experience

Participating not only highlights your ability to collaborate with teams and think outside the box, but it also shows you can deliver real results–key traits recruiters are constantly looking for. Plus, there’s a chance that these organizations could actually implement your solutions. Imagine having that as a talking point on your resume!

Networking and Industry Projects

This event is a great opportunity to broaden your professional network, learn from mentors, and potentially gain insights into specific industries. The participating organizations cover all sorts of areas, from drug development and healthcare to a local chamber of commerce and an AI startup. The connections and experience you get here can be incredibly unique.

Hope to see you there!

DeisHacks is an annual social justice hackathon at Brandeis University, sponsored by Brandeis International Business School, that brings together students, faculty and community members to tackle challenges faced by local nonprofits.

Over a weekend, teams collaborate to develop solutions for real-world problems in areas like education, healthcare and housing, fostering creativity, technical skills and social impact. It offers students a chance to make a meaningful difference while gaining hands-on experience in project development and teamwork.

Join 250+ hackers for 48-hours while we hack for social good.
