Basic Functions: Day to day portfolio operations of discretionary portfolios. Build, maintain, and apply model portfolios. Assist in fundamental and technical analysis of investment products with respect to CAI proprietary research. This research will primarily be mutual fund oriented but will extend to ETF’s, equities, and fixed income research as directed by manager. Member of the Investment Committee and assists management with the securities analysis, and the management of, the CAAMS Suite of Investment Programs. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalates to manager when necessary and updates manager on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, maintain, and implement model portfolios.
- Interact with and support separate account managers.
- Conducts analysis and research of investment products available to CA/Lincoln Financial advisors.
- Participates in CAI Investment Committee and is responsible for contributions to the group in regards to internal programs, asset allocation, overall investment environment and other subjects as they arise.
- Assists and supports in the education and promotion of the CAAMS/Lincoln Suite of Programs including conference calls, product knowledge, marketing assistance, written articles, and general field assistance.
- Acts as resource for Financial Advisors in regards to investment and product inquiries and case design.
- Assist with due diligence of liquid and illiquid investment programs, vehicles and instruments.
- Keep abreast of market conditions, economics and investment ideas etc. Have working knowledge of general business conditions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Experience:
- Equity, fixed income and mutual fund trading.
- Block trading.
- Model implementation and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of investment process.
- Demonstrated experience conducting portfolio analysis, determining liquidity and timing constraints and selection, purchasing and rebalancing recommendations.
- Proven experience working in a client-oriented field, effectively articulating complex technical information, via phone/written communications, demonstrating the ability to provide and initiate effective solutions.
- Ability to work with people at all levels and both internal and external.
- Possesses complete discretion in handling client and firm confidential and sensitive materials.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in MS Office including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Advanced knowledge of Morningstar, Bloomberg, and/or other research tools.
- Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying moderately complex problems and providing effective resolutions. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies.
- Ability to make appropriate subjective judgments.
- Advanced skill in communicating technical and conceptual information.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management as well as external customers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
Certification/Registration:
- Series 7, 63 licenses.
- CIMA or CFA/Candidate preferred.
