Coach Geri Brehm’s Weekly Case Practice and Career Advice

Welcome to our new first years and to all our returning students!

There are several fundamental career imperatives that will propel you forward and help ensure your aims for career success.

First: Find your career path, perhaps from the subjects which you most enjoy and in which you excel.  Then take control of your own career narrative. As these subjects come alive for you, build them into interesting stories that will; engage and convince contacts with whom you network or employers with whom you interview. These stories need to show that you are genuinely interested in the work area and want to contribute to the field. Success is built on assuring them that you want to and will make a difference!

Second: Don’t let insecurity, doubts or rejections overwhelm you. In order to thrive you need to not only persevere but protect your self-image from doubt and rejection.  Keep yourself refreshed and open to opportunities. Learning how to recover quickly and bounce back stronger is a strategy that will serve you in not only your career but throughout your life. So cultivate this ability and keep it strong!

Third: Attend at least 3 case interview prep sessions. where you will learn how to think in the moment and develop  strategies for problem solving that will serve you not only in class or in a case interviews but throughout your career, because business is about being able to solve problems faster and better than your completion.
