Recruitment timelines for this industry tend to happen much earlier, even up to a year in advance, especially if you are looking for management consulting roles. As you are building your target list of companies, it is important that you also review and make note of their recruiting timelines. Vault’s Career Guide to Consulting and Guide to the Top 50 Management and Strategy Consulting Firms are excellent resources to find this kind of information. Below is a sample of companies who have recently hired International Business School students for consulting roles.
For consultants, attention to detail, professional presentation and time management are extremely important. Throughout the application and interview process, the hiring managers will be expecting you to demonstrate all three of these capabilities, as they are essential to a consulting role.
Additionally, once you reach the interview stage, you will almost always be expected perform a case study in real time during the interview. Students have reported that these “case interviews” are nothing like doing case studies for their classes. In order to prepare successfully, additional case interview practice is required. CSE Resources for practicing case interviews include: Weekly Case Practice with Geri Brehm, CQ Interactive and BigInterview.
