Financial services recruits earlier than any other industry. Most bulge bracket banks and large financial institutions hire interns a year in advance and will extend full-time offers to those summer analysts and associates who perform well. Because of this, it is important to start building your company target list and researching recruitment timelines now.
Below is a sample of companies who have recently hired School of Business and Economics students for finance roles. Many of these companies also have dedicated online resources for students that include application tips and timelines.
Finance is a competitive field and the interview process will reflect that. Most firms use virtual interview platforms and online exams to screen candidates. If you are invited to formally interview, expect some mix of behavioral, technical and case interview questions. Firms will employ both traditional and unexpected questions to assess your quantitative and qualitative reasoning, as well as your ability to perform well under pressure.
