Campus Care: In-Person Resources for International Students

The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) offers various helpful resources to international students at Brandeis International Business school. While you can access your ISSO portal and important resources directly on the ISSO website, there may be times you also want to connect with the ISSO team in person. Below are two great ways to take advantage of in-person help this spring:

Schedule an Appointment with Your ISSO Advisor

Your ISSO Advisor will be able to assist you by providing guidance on work permits, visa regulations, and other immigration issues including maintenance of status, travel, dependents, and extension of stay. They can also assist with additional on-campus referrals and community resources. Learn more about your ISSO advisor on ISSO’s Contact Us page

Learn More about Employment Options

Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) are employment options which allow international students to gain practical work experience in their field of study. For scholars who are hoping to learn more about employment opportunities and eligibility, ISSO provides online resources as well as information sessions to assist students with the application process.

This year, ISSO is partnering with Career Strategies and Engagement (CSE) to provide in-person information sessions to interested scholars. Register on Handshake for the following events:

If you are unable to attend any of these in-person events, the ISSO also offers virtual information sessions on their site as well as pre-recorded training sessions.

Visit the USCIS website for more detailed information about OPT including student eligibility and responsibilities and remember to contact your ISSO advisor if you have any questions!

International Students, check out our new International Students Community page on CSE Connect! Here you’ll find job search resources, blogs, organizations and more to help you embrace your career and academic journey as an International Student.
